Mary Candle 270g
The oldest candle makers in the world, Cire Trudon have been creating candles since 1643. As official manufacturers to the French Royal Court throughout this time, Cire Trudon still use traditional methods including hand pouring and hand blowing all glass.
Introducing Mary, inspired by the life of writer Mary Shelley, the mother and author of Frankenstein!
We love everything about this candle, it screams Gothic luxury. The scent is everything we hoped it would be, and more! The vessel, of course it is black and the box...well it isn't one you would throw away!
Mary is a deep and evocative softly spiced wood candle: named after writer Mary Shelley, the mother and author of Frankenstein, Mary pays tribute to a modern icon. An iconoclast of her time, the 19th Century, she denounces the values of a self-righteous English society. Emancipated, Mary Shelley marries a poet: together, they travel across Europe. Mary Shelley lived a life tinted with Gothic drama, sadness and melancholia, but also with audaciousness, risk taking and romance. Her writings, travels, personality and era allow angles as a theme for the scent.
The Mary perfume is theatrical, with a luminous depth: floral and spicy notes of immortelle, tuberose, star aniseed and cardamom hint at maverick travels, that a heady heart composed of patchouli, Cedar, Gaiacwood further transgresses. Mary is a subversive perfume: the testament of a rich interior life, it reveals the life of a cursed heroin.
Top: Immortelle, Tuberose, Star Anise, Cardamom

A limited-edition candle, the Mary scented candle comes in a matte black glass, inside a box adorned with gold embossing: Gothic illustrations by Lawrence Mynott sketch Mary Shelley holding a cadavre exquis. A drawing that hints back at her life as a visionary female writer.
