An unusual vetiver with a fresh/earthy approach, Fat Electrician is a vignette of a man, of beauty and its fleeting nature, harsh but romantic.

His beauty would have been his greatest asset. One imagines he was raised in the big air of Texas, his soft skin scrubbed by ears of wheat, his eyelashes curled by grappling with grace against a blinding sun. A Midnight Cowboy lost on city asphalt.

A fisherman without a line, he was made to be hooked by others, to believe in his fate without knowing it, to wreak havoc and forget it over time. Youth for women-of-a-certain-age, stock for late-night parties, a partner to accompany the wealthy of Palm Beach on nature walks, his splendour is consumed in the service of others.

Now, a Fat Electrician in New Jersey, his talent depleted in his sexual decline. This is the curse of beauty — it doesn’t last.

HOW IT WEARS
Fat Electrician has a really interesting wear. It opens aromatic, almost astringent, before developing to reveal a heart of cedarwood and vetiver that mimics the scent of a classic barbershop fragrance. The dry-down is where things get interesting – the scent gets creamier, sweeter, warmer. The result is a gourmand vetiver that sticks to the skin for 6-8 hours.

LORE LOVES
We love how this fragrance is so incredibly true to concept – we imagine a tradesperson who has spritzed themselves with the fragrance they’ve always worn in the morning, and they’re having something sweet to eat on their lunchbreak. Vetiver lovers, your time is now! If you’re a vetiver fan, you’re going to love this one.

ABOUT THE BRAND
Founded by Etienne de Swardt in 2006, Etat Libre d’Orange is an ambitious, audacious perfume house. Its name meaning “Free Orange State” in French, this is a house with an emphasis on originality, audacity, authenticity and freedom of expression. Each of Etat Libre d’Orange’s offerings is uncompromisingly surprising and knows no constraints in terms of creativity nor raw materials.
A perfumer for LVMH for many years before going rogue, Etienne de Swardt founded Etat Libre d’Orange with a view to turn the commercial fragrance industry on its head. Its launch certainly made waves, not only due to the raunchy fragrance names, but for the compositions themselves.
Read any review of Etat Libre d’Orange online and you will see a wide range of opinions, from disgusted to delighted, from aroused to inspired. We are obsessed with the daring whimsy of this fragrance house and so excited to have it at Lore!
