Layering Fragrance
Today for Fragrance Friday we want to introduce to you a new recurring segment… Felicity’s Fusions! (Yes, we know that’s a lot of Fs)
We’ve noticed that one of the Lore gals, Felicity, has a particularly good nose for fragrance layering, and she’s come up with some iconic combos that the Lore team and customers alike are obsessed with!
Her fragrance fusion this week is v.2 The Black Heart of Darkness x Jasmin et Cigarette.
Map of the Heart’s v.2 is a smoky, ashy fragrance inspired by the aftermath of a burnoff in the bush – think Australian native plants springing up out of blackened bushland. While it’s smoky, it’s not super heavy, due to the presence of some greener, brighter notes, which makes it perfect for layering!
Notes
Top: Bergamot, Brazilian Orange, Eucalyptus
Middle: Cardamom, Black Pepper, Cinnamon
Base: Smoky Wood Accord, Australian Sandalwood
Jasmin et Cigarette, on the other hand, is a gentle, nuanced fragrance. Even though there’s “cigarette” in the name, it’s not a super smoky scent, in fact for the most part it’s a soft, green jasmine fragrance. Every so often you get just a waft of cigarette smoke, but for the majority of the wear it stays in the background.
Notes
Top: Galbanum, Sage Orpur®
Middle: Jasmine Absolute, Curcuma
Base: Tonka Beans, Mate
The fusion...
The complimentary notes in v.2 and Jasmin et Cigarette work with each other perfectly to make a totally beguiling fusion.
“This is a pretty dynamic duo that together create a really compelling smoky floral scent. It really captures the way smoke can linger alluringly in clothes or hair.” – Felicity
Quick layering tip – generally it’s better to put the stronger, bolder fragrance on the skin first – so in this case that would be v.2 – and layer the lighter one on top, which here would be Jasmin et Cigarette. You can play with ratios by spraying different amounts too and see what works for you!
