嵐山 – Arashiyama, or Storm Mountain, is a district in Kyoto home to a famous bamboo grove. Covering an area of 16 km2, the grove has many pathways that allow you to walk through the towering bamboo stalks – to witness their lush splendour, hear the soft rustling of their leaves, and smell their cool greenery.

HOW IT WEARS
Opening green, crisp and verdant, Arashiyama opens with the scent of rain, bamboo leaves and fresh grass. As it begins to settle, the (still green) but earthier, almost vegetal smell of bamboo wood reveals itself, complemented perfectly by the slightly sweet poweder of violet. This fragrance has a kind of airy quality about it, as though you have put your nose to the air walking through Arashiyama’s bamboo grove. Despite its sheerness, this fragrance actually has excellent lasting power and a soft but truly tranquil scent throw.
LORE LOVES
If you’re the type of person who likes a sheer, clean, green musk, Arashiyama is for you. It has a light, watery and yet ozonic quality to it that keeps you feeling fresh all day, no matter the weather. The bamboo wood accord in here is what makes the scent truly interesting though. It is certainly vegetal, but in a way that feels almost creamy – depending on who is wearing it, it can throw rice or even coconut, but always against a backdrop of lush greenery.
