The first fragrance in the 32.JULI collection, H₂O³ is like a clear morning on the shore of a lake, when water hits stone and mist hangs in the air.
A reinterpretation of the classic Eau de Cologne (which originated in Köln/Cologne, Germany), H₂O³ is an exploration of water in its many forms. It follows the movement of flowing water, mist rising from its surface, morning dew settling across moss-covered stones and lush vegetation. Together, they shape a fragrance that feels crisp, verdant, and mineral, capturing the atmosphere of an early morning where the boundaries between air, water and landscape seem to dissolve into one another.
NOTES
Top: Cucumber, Verjus, Algae
Middle: Angelica, Galbanum, Frankincense
Base: Vetiver, Driftwood, Ambergris
HOW IT WEARS
Our first impression of H₂O³ is of watery cucumber and green, sticky galbanum resin. Once it’s had the opportunity to settle a little, tart verjus and earthy, damp algae appear, wrapping themselves around the herbaceous muskiness of angelica. As it dries down, H₂O³ becomes more mineral – spicy vetiver combines with the balsamic twang of frankincense and aromatic driftwood to create what we like to think of as a wet, mossy stone accord, elongated by that ambergris note in the very base.
LORE LOVES
H₂O³ is an aquatic fragrance, but not like you’ve smelt before. It’s not oceanic or beachy, it’s green and cooling and deep. Juli, one of the co-founders of 32.JULI, explained that for this fragrance they took inspiration from the landscapes of the North of Germany – the part closer to Sweden and Denmark. It’s colder there, with flat stretches of fertile land shaped by the ancient ice ages. H₂O³ has a real greenery to it, like a traditional fougère, but the mineral elements remind us of petrichor too, so it feels utterly modern because of that.
