HOW IT WEARS
Opening with a fleeting appearance from angelic white tulip, it doesn’t take long before Vanilla Era turns rich and deep on the skin. In the heart, vanilla and coffee appear suspended in the resinous warmth of black amber, underpinned by the dirty sweetness of beetroot and sharp black pepper for a sexy, earthy edge.

Vanilla Era is a grown-up vanilla, the new era of vanilla if you like! It’s earthy but still softly sweet, drying down creamy and skin-like. For us, this new formulation seems more vanilla forward, but the lasting power is definitely better, with the addition of black amber aiding the fragrance in staying on the skin for hours at a time.

In late 2015, Boy Smells began as an experiment in candle-making in the Los Angeles kitchen of co-founders and partners Matthew Herman and David Kien. Herman and Kien began by making the things they’d want to use daily – products that were fluid, essential, but also accessible.

Each fragrance draws inspiration from the founders’ memories and experiences, but also takes into account the context and history attached to different smells. Each Boy Smells fragrance is like the complex identity of a person, full of dualities and contradictions, and because of that, wearing them allows you to reinforce your sense of self every day before you walk out the door.

Bold, boundary-breaking, and beautifully in-between. Boy Smells are rooted in genderfulness – not as a passing trend, but as a constant way of being.
