This is Not a Blue Collection Collection gets its name from the Treachery of Images, a famous artwork from the 1920s by the Belgian surrealist painter René Magritte. The painting shows the image of a pipe above a declaration, which reads, “This is not a pipe”. Histoires de Parfums takes inspiration from this art, and in this collection explores the line where things go from void to existence, there is a profound depth of possibility; and of course the infinite realm of blue.

The scent of light! We love the creamy warmth in this fragrance, like a burst of intensity; this is a bright and contrasting scent. An explosion of scent, a prism refracting the light into a splash of colours and notes all over the wearer. Soft, gentle and feminine in the opening with a creamy and delicious fresh floral heart, This is Not a Blue Bottle 1/.2 moves into a warm, earthy dry down on the skin. This fragrance is sensual and musky with little hints of brightness throughout.

Top: Ivy Leaves, Pink Pepper
Middle: Lilac, Lilly of the Valley, Ylang-Ylang
Base: Sandalwood, Vanilla, White Musk

This fragrance is an Eau de Parfum and the longevity with Histories de Parfums is generally about 6 – 8 hours, however we really get around 7 to 8 hours with this particular scent. Initially the scent is on the sweeter, sparkly side to begin with – the notes of Pink Pepper and Ivy brighten the creamy Vanilla and Musk tones allowing it to still smell bright and clean. The Sandalwood and Musk come out beautifully in the dry down creating a warm, sweet depth. We find the projection strong for the first few hours, before mellowing on the skin and becoming more gentle and skin-like, but still detectable.

We love this cocktail explosion. The Lilac and Lily bring a beautiful clean floral element, while the Ylang Ylang brings hints of an almost fruity tone at times. Paired with the gentle creaminess and muskiness you get in the dry down, there is something nostalgic and comforting that keeps you coming back again and again for this scent. This fragrance smells the way it feels to slide into freshly washed bedding – clean, comforted, a bit luxurious and somewhere you definitely want to linger!

From the incredible imagination of Gerald Ghislain, Histoires de Parfums is an olfactive library telling stories of famous characters, writers, poets and years throughout history. With this perfume library, Gerald Ghislain wanted to evoke stories through scent just as books are written with emotions. Each fragrance brings a story to life and each story is to be read on the skin.
