Inspired by the work of ancient herbalists, Carrière Frères’ fragrance diffuser comes in the shape of an apothecary flask. Made in France and eco-friendly in their design, the diffusers use untreated rattan sticks, a recyclable cork stopper, 100% recycled glass and 100% natural alcohol, offering a beautiful but also ethical way of perfuming your interior.

Originally part of a limited edition collection, Love is a Rose, Carrière Frères’ La Rose aime La Menthe heroes the Queen of Flowers, Damask Rose, pairing it with fresh and herbaceous spearmint.

With its distinctive, intoxicating scent, the Damask Rose has captured the hearts of poets, painters and playwrights throughout history, and has become synonymous with notions of love, passion and romance. The most fragrant of the roses, the Damask Rose’s origins can be traced back to the ancient Syrian city of Damascus before it made its way to Europe during the crusades.

Spearmint has also been used in perfume and medicine since ancient times – there are records of its use in Babylon where it was used to remedy digestive ailments. The Ancient Greeks believed it to have mythical origins (the nymph Menthe was turned into a spearmint plant by Persephone as punishment for having an affair with Hades) and used it to scent their baths.

The diffuser will usually last around 8-10 weeks. This duration may vary depending on the size of the room where the room fragrance diffuser is located, the room temperature, the exposure of the diffuser to direct sunlight, and draughts, which increase the evaporation of the perfume. In order to obtain a continuous diffusion, flip the sticks during the first two weeks of use and then every four days until complete evaporation of the perfume.

The purity of Damask Rose and the crisp freshness of spearmint harmonise effortlessly in this scent, resulting in a radiant green-floral fragrance.

We love this unique combination of notes that together make your home feel like a rose garden at the meeting of winter and spring. This diffuser is perfect for creating a fresh, uplifting but also romantic vibe in your space, and works all year round. So glad Carrière brought this scent back!

In 1884, the Carrière brothers took over the French Royal Wax Manufacturer (now known as Cire Trudon) with the intention to modernise it, while still preserving its historical savoir-faire.
With the industrial revolution well underway, access to electricity was becoming more widespread, and therefore candles weren’t as much of a necessity as they had been in the past. So, the Carrière brothers came up with a new way to keep candle use alive – candles as decorative objects! They create tapered and pillar candles for aesthetic use, for dinner settings or festivities, and they quickly became popular. At the 1889 Exposition Universelle (which the Eiffel Tower was built for) the brothers were awarded a gold medal for their vision and craft.
Inspired by the discoveries of 18th-century botanists and explorers, the Carrière Frères packaging and fragrances draw upon the natural biodiversity of the plant kingdom. In each and every scented candle or spray, perfume and botanical essences become one: composed like a periodic table, the Carrière Frères line honours scents extracted from herbs, roots, flowers, fruits or trees.
Each candle is made according to ancient expertise and handcrafted in the Trudon workshop in Normandy; the candles’ perfume coming from a blend of natural raw and synthetic materials. Since 2022, each of their candles and botanical palets are formulated with 100% vegetable wax, from European organic rapeseed.
