On the Saint-Bernard Quay, near the Jardin des Plantes, the first couples arrive at the Tino-Rossi garden. Tucked away beside the Seine river, this is a spot where people come to dance. As night falls, more dancers arrive, and the bleachers fill up. Lit up by the silver moon and the lights from nearby tourist barges, bodies mingle to the rhythm of the music.
It is then they make eye contact, and walk towards one another. As if in a trance, they dance in the heat of the night, and eventually decide to leave together. In the early morning, their crumpled sheets give off the scent of sleepless nights, of mischievous and lascivious embraces.

HOW IT WEARS
Gris Charnel Extrait opens with the freshness of cardamom combined with the delicacy of fig and its green and fruity accents. This bright opening illuminates the deeper darker notes that next appear; the woody essence of patchouli is invited in to the Extrait, bringing depth to the woods and tonka bean, rendering them more textured and warm. Voluptuous vanilla underlines the fragrance, which ends ambery, slightly smoky, and rounded. As an extrait, this fragrance will last 10+ hours on the skin, leaving an intoxicating trail behind the wearer.

The extrait version of Gris Charnel is rich, intoxicating, and completely captivating. If the original Gris Charnel was carnal, the Extrait is straight up debaucherous. The fig combined with the booze and woods is amplified in this scent while still maintaining perfect balance. After a wearing this, we are pretty much convinced that Eve’s forbidden fruit might have been a fig after all…
ABOUT THE BRAND
BDK Parfums is an independent perfume house founded by David Benedek. Specialising in unique, creative fragrances made up of high-quality raw materials, each scent has its own narrative, its own tale to tell.
One of the youngest designers and house founders in the industry, David was born in 1989 to a Moroccan/Algerian mother and a Romanian father. Fragrance runs in his family – his grandparents opened a perfume boutique in Paris shortly after arriving there from Transylvania in the 60s.
Each BDK fragrance works around a particular raw material, giving it a life and a story of its own. The house is in a perpetual search for flawless raw materials, which is why most concentrates they use are from the Grasse region in France. The creative process is never rushed; new scents are complete when the perfect equilibrium between notes is found, the alchemy perfect.
David wants people to choose their fragrance as they choose a book in a library – by wearing one of BDK’s scents, a person can experience the story of the perfume, and find the link between fragrance and imagination.
BDK Parfums is based in the heart of Paris, Palais-Royal, so the lids of the BDK bottles have been designed to pay homage to the dome of the iconic Grand Palais. The monument holds many French treasures and is perfectly representative of French savoir-faire – of liberté, égalité, and fraternité – perfect for this proudly French house.
