Da Lat is part of d’Annam’s first chapter, Enchanting Vietnam. Inspired by d’Annam founder Nick Hoang’s childhood growing up in rural Vietnam, this series is a manifestation of a dream, a sensory memoir of his homeland. The lotus blossoms that grace serene lakes, the crisp scent of morning dew on verdant rice paddies, the bitterness of lime leaves in his grandmother’s garden – each scent is a thread in the tapestry of his memories.
This fragrance pays homage to the charming city of Da Lat, a haven of romance and serenity in central Vietnam. At its core, Da Lat is an innovative rose scent that unfolds like a love letter, where every spray carries the promise of romance and surprise.
“Reinterpreting the classic rose scent can be a daunting task, yet the captivating beauty and diversity of Da Lat gives us plenty of inspiration. We paired rose with pine, crafting an unconventional, yet intriguing rose scent. This modern fragrance gets its distinctive warmth from the infusion of red wine notes, an homage to a local delicacy.” – Perfumer & Creative’s Note.

HOW IT WEARS
Da Lat, opens, intriguingly, with the sharper notes of red wine and juniper berry, aromatic and slightly earthy. It’s not long though before its romantic floral heart emerges, where fresh peony, rich rose, and the slightly citrusy character of magnolia combine to create a breathtaking bouquet, which is underpinned by crisp cedar. The more aromatic notes in the beginning mean this isn’t a powdery rose, it’s more crisp and realistic, but is still long lasting with a powerful scent throw.
LORE LOVES
The inclusion of the red wine note in this scent is what makes it feel so unique and captivating, but it’s not there just for aesthetic reasons. Da Lat is home to Vietnam’s wine region, famous for its production of light, sweet tasting red wines – a profile we think is captured perfectly in this scent. It’s a fresh rose, yes, but its earthy, boozy edge makes it feel truly elevated and intoxicating.
