For night two of our Halloweekend at Lore, we present an event for lovers of the occult, esotericism and magic.
The art and science of perfumery is thousands of years old, long connected to the practices of alchemy, worship, magic and mysticism. Perfume preparation and distillation processes were crystallised at the very same time that alchemists were tirelessly trialling transmuting organic matter into the elixir of life. Perfume has been used as a ritual medium for convening with the divine for almost as long as it’s been around. And just like secret societies and mystery cults, perfume has been shrouded in mystery and mythology… up until recently anyway.
On the evening of Friday the 30th of October, we will be exploring the inextricable relationship between perfumery and magic, revealing forgotten mythologies, analysing recipes and attempting to convene with higher powers through a curated array of indie, niche fragrances.
