Perhaps she is one and the same. Warmed by the fire of this woman, the noses have embraced a fanciful vision. They have created for her a perfume of protection, a refuge on the battlefield of love. 

Defensive yet transparent, Eau de Protection conceals as it reveals. For her, a caress is demanded, while those around her are struck with awe. The noses have extracted that which is most profound in her, the essence of her. They have distilled her honey and squeezed the juice from her heart.

HOW IT WEARS
Eau de Protection opens with the strong, spicy heat of ginger, which fades only slightly as the fragrance wears. Bitter orange and just a tiny crack of black pepper perfectly accentuate the ginger, and beckon in the floral heart notes. The rose in the heart of this fragrance is very strong, super jammy, almost fruity in its sweetness. The base notes are subtle, almost barely perceptible, but serve as the perfect grounding element for the more vibrant, complex top notes.

Rose seems to be the muse of many of ELdO’s fragrances, and here she appears in her finest regalia. Her symbology is not lost on us either – roses represent love, sensuality, beauty and connection to the divine. With just one spritz of Eau de Protection, you can almost feel her powers absorb into you – in fact we think spraying this fragrance would be great as part of a glamour magic ritual. Eau de Protection is for the main character, someone who is unapologetically themselves, and while is already highly favoured… a little extra protection couldn’t hurt.

A perfumer for LVMH for many years before going rogue, Etienne de Swardt founded Etat Libre d’Orange with a view to turn the commercial fragrance industry on its head. Its launch certainly made waves, not only due to the raunchy fragrance names, but for the compositions themselves.
