Buckley’s Chance is an ode to the harsh Australian elements featuring sandalwood spicatum, one of Australia’s most remarkable native botanicals, with labdanum, amber and vanilla for a quietly powerful and deeply comforting signature.
Inspired by the story of William Buckley; convicted in 1802, he was sent to Australia as a convict, arriving in Port Phillip Bay in 1803. Dissatisfied by the conditions, lacking both food and water Buckley and five others escaped during a storm. He befriended the Wathaurong People and lived alongside them, and as a result Buckley survived on the land for over 30 years. His extraordinary survival story became Australian folklore and ultimately gave rise to the famous Australian saying – “You’ve got Buckley’s and none”, meaning you have almost no chance at all.

Buckley’s Chance is the perfect sandalwood fragrance – it is everything that we wanted it to be and more! Opening as a decadently creamy sandalwood fragrance with a deliciously subtle and earthy, warm undertone. We get a buttery warmth from the vanilla that never veers too sweet to perfectly accompany the sandalwood note. After a few hours, Buckley’s Chance is smooth and creamy, like a beautiful cashmere sweater or your favourite worn-in t-shirt. Very skin-like as it settles, definitely more of a whisper than a shout, a snuggle of scent.

ABOUT THE BRAND
Founded in 2019 by Craig Andrade, The Raconteur (“The Storyteller”) is an artisanal luxury fragrance brand specialising in Australian native botanicals and plant extracts.
Having attended one of the world’s most prestigious fragrance schools in Grasse, France, and trained by Elise Pioch Balzac, Andrade knows his perfume. Working with world leader in natural perfumery, Mandy Aftel, he has created Australian botanical extracts and fragrances for use in collaboration with Troye Sivan for Tsu Lange Yor, Paspaley and Cult Design.
