After going through the Pinterest trends for the year ahead, we just had to match them to fragrances to completely and utterly capture the energy, vibe, aesthetic and emotions of each trend. So if you’re ready to embody some of these trends for the year, we’ve got you sorted with the perfect fragrance match!
EXTRA CELESTIAL = ETAT LIBRE D’ORANGE’S THE GHOST IN THE SHELL
The trend – We are so here for this extra terrestrial trend! Think all things futuristic is a very aesthetically pleasing holographic, swirls of silver kind of style. The aliens have brought the glam and we cannot resist them and their opalescent fabulousness for one more second.
The scent – How could it be anything other than The Ghost in the Shell? A futuristic fragrance that merges the scent of human skin with rubbery, vinyl accords of none other than cyborg skin! The Ghost in the Shell smells like cyborg skin… so close to human but not quite. It’s comforting and clean, but with a chemical twist that lends a your-skin-but-upgraded kind of feel to the scent. Otherworldly and futuristic, upgrade yourself and your fragrance game with a spritz of The Ghost in the Shell.
VAMP ROMANTIC = HERETIC PARFUM NOSFERATU
The trend – It’s a goth renaissance, but they’re all grown up and totally bougie, glossy and glamourous. All black everything, with hints of plum and blood red. There’s a melancholic, romantic feel to this trend. Think the heartbroken vampire, destined to an eternity of solitude and sadness.
The scent – It’s like Nosferatu was made for this trend (but actually, no, it was made to launch alongside the film, Nosferatu in 2025) An iconic scent that doesn’t give you the old stereotypical ‘vampire’ vibe. It is in fact soft and fragile, delicate and pretty – an ode to the innocence of Ellen who Nosferatu will have eventually….as the scent develops there is an unease, a cold, stone-like dampness. We have – Nosferatu, a fragrance that will haunt you, in the most wonderful way.
LACED UP = PERDRISATÂ NIGHTSTAND
The trend – We have a bit of a glamour thing happening this year in general, but this is a soft, romantic elegance as lace enters the conversation. It’s ‘more is more’ when it comes to lace. Vintage feels and a delicate prettiness, but this trend also takes lace and embodies a modern-day maximalism aesthetic.
The scent – Perdrisât’s Nightstand perfectly captures this energy of when old meets new. Inspired by a 1950’s or 1960’s ingenue, this fragrance wreaks (in a beautiful way!) of vintage charm with a modern-day twist. This fragrance is so transportive, you can easily imagine it on the nightstand of a young woman in the 50s or 60s, displayed on a tray alongside a silver hairbrush and a jar of cold cream, set upon an off-white doily.Â
FUN HAUS = .ODDITY DELULU
The trend – The circus has come to town and it is FUN! This is youthful, nostalgic playfulness that is still totally wearable. This a classic circus, fun house, carnival style – taking what has been beige and boring and adding a frivolity to it while referencing the incomparable childhood nostalgia of the circus.Â
The scent – Delulu is the epitome of this trend. The whole concept of Delulu is childhood nostalgia. In fact this fragrance was made for the adults that just don’t want to grow up! Even the lids are made from used toys that have washed up as rubbish on the shores of Hong Kong. Nostalgia is one of the most powerful feelings humans are capable of, and we think Delulu captures it so well. It has the sweetness we all enjoyed as children, but it’s also infused with some doses of sharp and sour reality to bring us back to earth. The rhubarb in particular adds a unique, almost confusing edge to the fragrance which really sets it apart. Â
NEO DECO = STORA SKUGGAN THUMBSUCKER
The trend – Like all trends, they are cyclical, and this is another hark to the past with a love for everything Art Deco, once again, fusing modern styles. Quirky styles, geometry, dashes of gold brilliance, Neo Deco is kind of like Art Deco on acid. Its brighter, louder, more fun and experimental yet also clearly referencing the style of the 1920’s.
The scent – Thumbsucker scratches something primal in our brains. It reminds us of a time or place we can’t quite put our finger on, provoking a slideshow of memory flashes perhaps from when we were babies. There is a childlike, new quality to Thumbsucker amongst the regal and golden edges that feel luxurious, much like the fun of Art Deco. You can imagine that this scent reflects the youth of today and their love for all things Deco, as they witness the grandeur for the first time. Like rolling around outside on the grass amongst fresh daisies. The scent of a baby oil massaged on our tiny baby hands and feet. Seeing a butterfly for the first time. Mother’s milk. You get the drift…
POETCORE = IMAGINARY AUTHORS YESTERDAY HAZE
The trend – With the trends of being bookish + ‘hot girl summer reading’ building steam, it’s only natural that it evolves to Poetcore. We’re romanticizing the notion of spending the day with your head in a book…or at least looking like you’re the type of person who would do that! It’s also giving a university professor vibe, but it’s a younger and more hopeful energy too. It’s the art of the finer details, of personal reflection, putting pen to paper – old skool styles to write your lover a little poem.
The scent – Imaginary Authors have completely captyured the essence of this fragrance with Yesterday Haze. It smells slightly melancholic yet also wistful and dreamy. There’s a yearning for yesterday as the summer comes to a close (hence the name) and it smells like you’ve just spent your leisurely days at your Great Aunt’s mansion only to discover a dusty old library filled with cedarwood furniture and sweet smelling paperback books.
GLAMORATTI = ATELIER DES ORS BOIS SIKAR
The trend – Think old money, the era of absolute decadence and opulence in full swing again. There is no ‘quiet money’ here, this trend is all about being as lavish and glamourous and wealthy as possible. And being proud of it. It’s a little 80’s with oversized everything, cos when you’re that fabulous, why wouldn’t you want to be seen by everyone.
The scent – It had to be something from Atelier Des Ors because… 24 carat gold floating in the juice is SO Glamoratti. And the scent had to be Bois Sikar since it basically smells like old money. You can just imagine the bougie-est person at the party wearing this. They’re the person handing our rare cigars flown in especially for them from a tiny town in Cuba, pouring everyone glasses of the most prestigious, aged whiskey surrounded by their fabulously fancy rich friends…having a grand old time!
GIMME GUMMY = BOY SMELLS SUGAR BABY
The trend – Uber colourful and playful gummy lollies are literally taking over and covering everything. From phone cases, to nail art, to jewellery – this is the most playful aesthetic trend. Think jelly everything!! It’s little kid dressed their mum in their dream outfit. The cutesy outrageousness is tactile, sensory-driven, and nostalgic!
The scent – Sugar Baby seems almost too obvious right? Salty sweet notes with a hint of floral makes this the ultimate sweet treat in fragrance form. It almost sparkles like a translucent gummy bear in the summer sun. In fact, this is the fragrance equivalent to a candy-coloured eye shadow palette, cutesy gummy vitamins or that extra iphone case with 3D candy all over it!Â
