The ultimate fragrance stacking recommendation

tulita

Jess is spilling the tea after meeting with Lucy Bradshaw, the founder of Tulita this week. She let us in on one of her favourite fragrance layering combinations at the moment: Vikasa and Sasra. And after trying it, we get it! It really is like the most picturesque garden in full bloom when you layer these two scents. Being all natural means that they layer seamlessly also, making this a fragrance scent stacking exercise in creativity. Want to turn up the herbal notes or the fruitiness? Want to enhance the sweet florals? Layer as you choose to create a scented slice of magic, an ethereal garden of your dreams.

Vikasa is the ultimate rose fragrance – it’s bright and juicy with an earthy base. It has been ayurvedically designed with essential oils to connect with your heart chakra, and enhances feelings of love (especially self love).

As soon as you spray Vikasa you understand this connection as it immediately conjures feelings of joy, presence and vitality. There is a gorgeous, delicate fragility to the rose and citrus notes that feel sweet yet sparkling in the opening. It is the fragrance equivalent to The Empress tarot card, a moment of feminine power that is rooted in gentleness, passion and creation. It smells like the notion of your cup overflowing with love.

As the scent develops we have hints of creamy jasmine with a base of cedarwood and frankincense. While not overpowering the rose note, they add depth and dimension to the fragrance as they root us to the earth and ground us in the power that is the Queen of all flowers, rose.

Now that we have perfectly created our whimsical, love enhancing rose garden through Vikasa, we can begin scent stacking with the quirky, fruity, herbal, floral – Sasra. When we layer these two fragrances, they bring together 2 very different visions of nature and take you on a fragrant adventure, as though you are walking through a perfectly maintained garden in its most lush peak of mid Spring. Everything is in full bloom and it is abundant and magnificent.

Like Vikasa, Sasra utilizes ayurvedic ingredients to connect us with our throat chakra. This is a fragrance of communication, of speaking your truth with clarity and conviction. It goes hand in hand with the intention of Vikasa, as being able to stand and communicate your truth with confidence in itself is an act of self love.

As a fragrance, Sasra opens with the juicy sweet freshness of an apple, balanced by the tart note of rhubarb. This is then followed by the aromatic herbal notes of rosemary, clary sage and lavender. It feels connected, calm, while also grounded in a powerful confidence.

As the fragrance asserts more of its floral notes, we have geranium and chamomile, both earthy (not sweet) florals. The geranium brings a green sharpness into the scent that is striking while the chamomile is earthy and dry. Both florals make this an incredibly unique blend of notes that takes you to warm spring afternoons spent with your bare feet directly on the grass, the warm breeze mingling all of the greenery of the garden into one.

You cannot quite pinpoint if this is a floral or a green or an aromatic fragrance, but it ultimately does not matter because it smells like you are immersed in a gorgeous garden regardless.

Now the layering combination is absolute sorcery…you bring this English rose garden into the herbal garden, into the fruit trees, into the green grass. It is a transportive fragrance blend that you can customise. Want a rosy fragrance with a hint of lush greens? Go heavy on Vikasa and gentle on Sasra. Want to add more floral sweetness to your fresh garden scent? Add more Sasra than Vikasa!
