From a fusion of two worlds comes Intenso di Mirto, a fragrance that weaves together the refinement of Parisian style with the sunlit vitality of Mediterranean tradition. Intenso di Mirto is a fragrance for those who experience the world as a tapestry of stories, places, and emotions waiting to be discovered. The myrtle plant grows especially well in Sardinia, where its berries are commonly used in cooking and to make the famous Mirto digestif. With a fresh, sweet, herbaceous yet almost camphorous scent, Myrtle is as complex as it is beautiful.

HOW IT WEARS
The top notes of Intenso di Mirto begin the fragrance with an unexpected, intriguing energy: aromatic, resinous juniper berries blend with the velvety warmth of davana and the spicy freshness of ginger. At the heart of the fragrance, myrtle – an undisputed symbol of Mediterranean nature – finds a new voice through the delicate, romantic embrace of rose and the fruity golden touch of osmanthus. The base notes reveal a captivating and well-structured trail. Soft, caressing musk intertwines with the warm, woody nuances of cedarwood and patchouli, delivering a finish that seduces and lingers, leaving an unforgettable impression.

Intenso di Mirto is the most unique of the Intenso collection from Carthusia. It’s such a unique combination of notes – rich, warm, and spicy, but at the same time floral and herbaceous. The sandalwood-y drydown is creamy and sensual and helps the fragrance last for hours on the skin. The perfect way to modernise the myrtle note, this fragrance does what it sets out to do.
ABOUT THE BRAND
In 1380 on the island of Capri, the monks of Carthusian Monastery of St. Giacomo were taken by surprise when they learnt that Queen Joan of Anjou would be visiting them. Legend has it the father prior went around the island, gathering the most beautiful flowers he could find to present to the queen. The flowers were kept in water for 3 days, and just as the monks went to throw them away, they noticed a beautiful fragrance coming from the water. They went to their alchemist, who figured out how to recreate and preserve the scent, thus creating the first perfume of Capri.
Hundreds of years later, in 1948, the monks’ perfume formulas were rediscovered by the Priory of Certosa. With permission from the Pope, a chemist went about reproducing the formulas in a small laboratory, named Carthusia.
In the late 40s painter Mario Laboccetta created Carthusia’s logo – a flower siren surrounded by native Capresi blooms, symbolising the brand’s indissoluble bond with Capri.
Today, Carthusia’s fragrances are still all handmade, observing centuries old practises, ensuring the highest level of quality in their fragrances. The spirit and history of Capri is embedded in every Carthusia product, and all ingredients are derived from Capri’s environment, paying homage to the beautiful island.
