Felicity’s Fusions featuring Wavechild as a base

As you may have seen, layering is a hot trend and not only does it enable you to maximise your fragrance wardrobe to the fullest, it also allows you to let your creativity go wild. Because, fragrance should be about self expression, and of course joy. So for those who love mixing and experimenting – we love you for it. To anyone not vibing it, also cool – you do you. And then to those who want to do more but aren’t sure where to start, that’s what we’re here for!

Today we have another round of everyone’s favourite segment – Felicity’s Fusions…but we’re mixing things up! Today, the lovely Flic has chosen the base fragrance and then thrown the challenge out to Jess and Clea to pick the layering combo they’d suggest.

FELICITY'S PICK...

Our base fragrance, courtesy of Felicity, is none other than Room 1015’s Wavechild. A deliciously playful scent that captures the essence of Huntington Beach, California. It’s 90’s skaters and surfers, with watermelon and coconut notes reigning supreme. It gives naughty summer antics yet has enough depth to easily be worn in winter too. We love the burst of energy it creates with the citrus and watermelon juiciness. The heart of creamy coconut, and then the base of ambergris, cocoa and amberwoods create a beautiful dense, slightly gourmand base that this fragrance remains a long lasting scent that keeps on giving, hours after applying.

Felicity “Fun, fruity, watermelon; she’s nostalgic with a hint of saltiness and beachy vibes”

JESS' LAYER

So for our first fusion, Jess has chosen to layer Wavechild with Etat Libre d’Orange Clean Suede. Formally known as Tom of Finland, Clean Suede is inspired by the male body. A sensual scent; it is designed to mimic bare skin and leather. Clean Suede talks of water splashing as it hits skin. It opens with a clean fresh quality that is part citrus, part shaving soap and part fresh air. As Clean Suede softens on the skin, the amber, suede and vanilla notes create a gentle grit, a carnal, animalic fleshiness. When paired with Wavechild we take this playful scent from day to night. Or even from summer to winter.

Jess “It’s giving sexy leathery grit with a hint of cleanliness against this vibrant fruity scent; it’s after hours, sexy beach dude.”

CLEA'S LAYER

Then, for our second layering option, we have Clea coming in hot with a very different, yet absolutely fabulous combo. Goldfield & Banks Bohemian Lime meets Room 1015 Wavechild! Now, while Jess’s went into a deeper leathery territory, Bohemian Lime layered over Wavechild adds an intense spicy citrus zing. It increases the overall juiciness without increasing the sweetness. Not only boosting the citrus-sparkle factor, Bohemian Lime also adds a more earthy winter warmth as the scent settles on the skin. The symphony of woody and earthy notes in the base of Bohemian Lime have cocooning effects that pair effortlessly with the more gourmand base from Wavechild.

Clea “Adding a warm, almost spicy citrus top note to the citrus in Wavechild plus a slightly more wintery depth, these two are delicious together.”
