Cowboy Kush kicks off with warm hazelnut and soft white leather, matures into cannabis flower and worn suede, and then settles into smooth tonka and patchouli. Sweet, smoky and slightly wild. Think rodeo rebel meets downtown after-hours.

“For me the challenge here was to blend the unexpected- taking rustic notes and making them more refined. I wanted to make the top feel comforting and smooth, almost like warm, cracked leather with a zesty touch of mandarin and a hint of sweet hazelnut. The heart is a bit more adventurous- saffron flower and tobacco leaves bring this earthy, almost wild vibe, while cannabis leaf adds a really cool, green edge. For the dry down, I used tonka beans, patchouli, suede and oud to exude this deep, rich warmth- grounding the fragrance in this perfectly mysterious, smoky finish. In late 2015, Boy Smells began as an experiment in candle-making in the Los Angeles kitchen of co-founders and partners Matthew Herman and David Kien. Herman and Kien began by making the things they’d want to use daily – products that were fluid, essential, but also accessible.
Each fragrance draws inspiration from the founders’ memories and experiences, but also takes into account the context and history attached to different smells. Each Boy Smells fragrance is like the complex identity of a person, full of dualities and contradictions, and because of that, wearing them allows you to reinforce your sense of self every day before you walk out the door.
