ABOUT THE BRAND
Since 2015, Initio Parfums Privés has been a pioneer in the world of functional fragrance. They view perfume as an object of transformation; something that can influence how you feel both physically and mentally.
The limbic system, located deep within your brain, is the control centre of emotion. It processes scents, sounds, memories, and very importantly, your unconscious. Studies show that up to 75% of daily emotions can be triggered by scent unconsciously. With this in mind, Initio set out to create a range of fragrances designed to more intentionally illicit particular emotional reactions. They partnered with dsm-firmenich, a perfume laboratory that has been researching the neuroscience of fragrance for over 30 years, and together created a range of perfumes that create measurable emotional response – otherwise known as functional fragrance.
Each of Initio’s collections explores a different emotional territory, formulated using specific notes proven to assist in triggering certain emotions or feelings. The Carnal Blends Collection encourages love, attraction and connection using sensual hedione, The Absolutes Collection harnesses the power of animalic notes to help sharpen your animal instincts, The Hedonist Collection encourages healing and harmony using noble raw materials know for their well-being power, and the Black Gold Project utilises the sacred scent magic of oud to encourage confidence and conquest.
Made in France, Initio perfumes are blended with both natural and safe synthetic ingredients.
