The paper plane – a symbol of hope, dreaming big, ingenuity and inventiveness, of nostalgia.
From Leonardo da Vinci’s paper flying machine to the intricate folds of origami creations, paper has been used to materialise ideas and realise visions since its invention. Wondrous, this Paperplane remains suspended, defying gravity, reminding us that anything is possible.
Paperplane is a place where play, art and science come together – it captures the elusive smell of paper and combines it with an ozonic airiness to create a unique and evocative modern perfume.

HOW IT WEARS
Paperplane opens with the sharpness of incense and pepper, like a fresh, crisp piece of paper being folded. As the scent develops, the aromatic notes of sage and vetiver create a raw paper-like smell. Cypriol, moss and musk add an ether-like environmental facet to the fragrance that lingers on the skin for the duration of its wear – 6-8 hours.
LORE LOVES
Firstly, we love the creativity behind Paperplane’s concept – it’s optimistic and uplifting, yet comforting in a nostalgic way – overall, it’s very modern and totally unique. It’s not a super loud fragrance, more personal – a great everyday fragrance, or something to spritz on when you’re having artist’s block. Clean, yet with an earthy edge, combining the signature Costume National Japanese minimalism with Italian classicism, in fragrance form!
ABOUT THE BRAND
Founded in 1986 by Capasa brothers Ennio and Carlo, the Costume National fashion label emerged as a fusion between Japanese and Italian cultures. Learning his craft in Japan, Ennio began the fashion in his home country of Italy (based in Milan). The Costume National line is based on the history, craftsmanship and raw materials from both cultures. Their aesthetic extends to their iconic fragrance line – Minimal, Chic and Rock’n’Roll.
