One hit is never enough. In Midnight Toker, blonde tobacco is laced with honeyed apricot to create a sensual fragrance that’s like a high from a dangerous lover. The sweet smoke of clove cigarettes unfurls its faceted beauty under the penetrating warmth of smoky Betula Pendula (or birch tar) and the intoxicating allure of singed vanilla absolute. It’s the fragrance of heated skin, hedonism and tobacco-stained lips that will have you coming back for more… much more.

HOW IT WEARS
Midnight Toker begins like the first taste of a clove cigarette when you’ve just put it in your mouth to light it – sweet and warmly spicy. For the briefest moment in the opening, you pick up the scent of caramelised dried apricots, which add just a touch of syrupy fruitiness to the fragrance. As it begins to dry down, the fragrance gets more earthy and smoky – first you pick up the sweet resin of blonde tobacco, then as it wears the tarry, leathery labdanum and birch tar do the heavy lifting. Earthy, spicy vanilla persists throughout the entirety of the wear of Midnight Toker, which lasts a delectable 6-8 hours on the skin.
LORE LOVES
We think Midnight Toker might be our favourite (neo) gourmand from Heretic Yet! It is so perfectly balanced – definitely spicy and smoky, but the purity of the rich and sweet vanilla bean is always in the background, anchoring the fragrance to the skin. Like a wisp of spiced smoke coming from a clove cigarette, this scent is totally intoxicating and addictive – even for those who don’t usually consider themselves gourmand lovers. Douglas Little, the perfumer, has described Midnight Toker as a love letter to his gothic fragrance fans, and we couldn’t agree more. P.S. We are really enjoying wearing Midnight Toker by itself, but have noticed it layers extraordinarily well with Dirty Violet, Dirty Vanilla, and Voodoo Lily.

I read that Douglas Little created this scent from his memories of goth clubs and clove cigarettes—and it hit me. I used to go to metal clubs and smoke tobacco, and this took me straight back there. But not in the headachey, stale-smoke way. It’s the feeling of that time: the mystery, the tension, the undercurrent of something sacred happening in a dark room lit by strobe and sweat.
Midnight Toker is smoky without being smoke. It’s woody without campfire. It’s sweet—but never too sweet. Like the memory of something on your skin hours after you left, a trace of connection between strangers through sound, taste, scent.
There’s something nostalgic and intimate here, like driving past an old venue and wondering what’s still happening inside. And realising that people are still feeling in those spaces—through music, scent, presence. This perfume captures that exact thing.
