Fantosmia is a perfume that marries a natural phenomenon with manufactured intelligence in equal measure.
The end result presents a progressive step towards a new olfactory language – speaking not only in notes and aromatic raw materials, but also in shape, form, texture, surface, physicality, the elusive and intangible; giving additional lexicon to odours, their form and resulting sensation (olfacticality).
Existing in liquid form, Fantosmia transcends materiality and showcases the inherent beauty of select natural materials and the power of harnessed molecular knowledge.
SELECTIVE MEMORY
The Selective Memory collection is all about the blurred boundaries between memory and imagination. Inspired by distorted recollections of shared experiences, each perfume translates emotion into evocative scent, combining artistic storytelling with Jorum Studio’s innovative approach to modern perfumery.

HOW IT WEARS
When you first put your nose to Fantosmia, you have no idea what you’re smelling, and then things slowly start to fall into place in your brain. Beginning phenolic, almost acrid, it takes just a few seconds on the skin before you can identify a piquant bouquet of spice – cardamom, pimento, black pepper, annatto and cascarilla combine to create a super tart brightness that’s almost metallic. As it settles, it reveals the cooling herbal sweetness of shiso, mate and fennel – dried, not fresh. On paper it would stop here, but on the skin, it gets deeper and more interesting still; aetoxylon (white oud), leather, saffron and castoreum combine to create a dry, sharp, animalic blend that you realise is responsible for that initial acridity in the beginning once you get there. What you’re left with at the end is a metallic, spicy leather, but not like you have ever smelt before.
LORE LOVES
We think Fantosmia is everything special about contemporary niche fragrance, it truly challenges you and your nose. It’s thoroughly unfamiliar, and yet becomes familiar the longer you sit with it. Phantosmia refers to the phenomena of phantom smells (phew, that’s a lot of “ph”s), ie: a smell that’s present but seems to have no source. The way this one develops on the skin elicits a similar feeling of confusion, but in a way that’s truly exciting. Be prepared to be asked what on earth you’re wearing!
