In the heart of the visionary project Nasomatto lies its captivating debut fragrance, Duro. A magnetic allure beckons those with unwavering confidence and self-assurance, as it unveils an aromatic testament to the eternal reservoir of strength dwelling within.

Embodied within this exquisite elixir is the very essence of masculine energy, capturing its raw power while playfully toying with its essence. Duro becomes an olfactory homage to masculinity, a symphonic celebration of its many dimensions, and a dance with its traditional attributes.

A woody, spicy, leather fragrance, Duro is certainly bold. The leather note is prominent and produces the most beautiful dry earthiness on the skin. A favourite amongst the collection due to its compelling complexity – plus it wears incredibly on the skin! The perfect scent for someone wanting an earthy, well-rounded fragrance.

The caps of the Duro bottles are made out of wenge, one of the most substantial tropical timbers. This type of wood has a characteristic dark colour, is very heavy and hard, and has a distinctive lined surface.

HOW IT WEARS
Opening with all the strength and purity of a freshly cracked branch of hardwood, Duro’s intensity mellows on the skin over time, blossoming into an array of softer, earthier tones like leather, with a hint of bright spice. It has a surprising dry down which reveals much greater complexity than its dry wood opening. Masculine and ‘durable’ with a soft underbelly. Most assuredly a long-lasting wear. As a Parfum Duro will easily last 8+ hours on the skin, and even longer on the skin and hair.

LORE LOVES
We love the concept for Duro, how it simultaneously honours and pokes fun of the concept of masculinity. In terms of the scent itself though, for us it conjures the smell of a carpenter’s workshop, where the air is thick with the aroma of freshly hewn wood, mingling with the rich notes of varnish and a subtle hint of leather from the craftsman’s cherished tool cases. Duro not only evokes rugged charm but also exudes daring robustness, beckoning all to partake in its essence, regardless of gender.

ABOUT THE BRAND
Nasomatto, meaning “Crazy Nose” in Italian, is the brainchild of Alessandro Gualtieri, aka The Nose. The house was established in 2007 by Gualtieri as a desperate outburst after being restricted by the marketing regulations and trend forecasts imposed on him by the commercial multinational companies he had previously worked for.
Therefore, each Nasomatto fragrance is an uninhibited, personal, artistic expression of Gualtieri’s. The Nose doesn’t believe in the olfactory pyramids, neither does he want to reveal the ingredients he uses. He wants those who smell his fragrances to be able to interpret scent in their own way, unencumbered by preconceived notions or biases, giving them the freedom to forge their own olfactory image.
“I start making something but at a certain point it starts making choices by itself. It is the process that interests and guides me. I like the feeling that I’m losing control and I’m not the one making the choices. My involvement is to create something that is alive that will be able to say new things. I want my perfumes to have an intelligence of their own, not just be slave to my meaning.” The Nose, Alessandro Gualtieri.
Gualtieri has a visceral relationship with materials, everything is decisive – top quality ingredients are chased around the world, bottles, caps and packaging are designed with each fragrance’s concept in mind – every element plays an important role and is part of a bigger picture.

Reviews

2 reviews for Duro Parfum 30ml.

  1. Frankie

Spices, woods and leather. Unapologetic, animalistic and raw. Nothing pretty here, folks. Just a punch in the face.

  2. Blue

This one sits surprisingly soft and close. Lasts well as the EDP concentration promises. Undeniably masculine but it settles pretty fast into a generic ‘woods and spice’ effect that isn’t much different from Proraso aftershave balm. No clear notes, instead of feeling smooth it merely feels simple. Nothing wrong with it, but not especially complex or memorable for the niche price.
