In honour of Dita Von Teese’s tour of Australia, we’ve been celebrating her and our bestselling fragrance, Scandalwood – a collaboration between her and Heretic Parfum.
It got us thinking about the best Architectural Digest home tour ever uploaded… Dita’s (duh!). We’re obsessed with her eclectic vintage decor, and not to brag, but we don’t think it’s super dissimilar to how we’ve decorated the Lore boutique!
So, with Dita and her beautiful interiors in mind, we have put together a list of fragrances we think really encapsulate that old-world glamour vibe – think burlesque outfits, feathers, powder puffs, vanities crammed with vintage perfume bottles, and a bed with the best quality sheets money can buy.
Created in collaboration with Dita Von Teese, Scandalwood is the scent of lace gloves, red lips, velvet and mystery. Smooth, creamy, and musky, it’s like the texture of pantyhose, or even the skin underneath them. Imagine Scandalwood as the opening act of a burlesque show – it’s a tease, a temptation, intriguing without giving everything away. It’s the ultimate date-night scent in our opinion – it’s present without being overwhelming, which might cause your love interest to lean in just a little more…
NOTES
Top: Coriander, Bois De Rose, Atlas Cedar
Middle: Bulgarian Rose, Ylang Ylang Absolute
Base: Sandalwood, Orris Butter, Labdanum, Myrrh, White Musk
We’ve always called Putain des Palaces the “Mae West fragrance” at Lore. It has all the characteristics of a fragrance that might have been popular in the 1920s or 30s – it’s a super powdery floral with a bit of sweetness and spice, but what makes it sexy is the musk in the base. It adds just a hint of raunchy funk to the scent that makes it feel contemporary. We imagine this fragrance as the scent of a wardrobe or dressing room, where perfume and powder has embedded itself in fur coats, impossibly high heels are strewn across the carpet, and extravagant gowns are draped over a suede setee after being hastily taken off in the heat of the moment.
NOTES
Top: Mandarine, Ginger Orpur®, Raspberry
Middle: Iris, Rose Absolute, Rice Powder
Base: Tonka Beans Orpur®, Sandalwood, Musk
Bubbly, fruity and floral, the Red Heart of Passion is flirtation in fragrance form. It has a sense of vibrance about it that reminds us of the glitz and glamour of a burlesque show – sparkly, audacious and attention-grabbing. With its combination of rare fruits, piquant spice and heady florals, v.3 really captures the imagination. Irresistible like the forbidden fruit, we think this is the perfect scent for a night out, but even better for a night in when you want to create a little bit of excitement.
NOTES
Top: Bergamot Opur, Pink Peppercorn, Red Apple
Middle: Feijoa, Tuberose, Incense, Cinnamon
Base: Australian Sandalwood, Madagascan Vanilla, Patchouli Faction, Musk
A modern wisteria with vintage appeal, Nightstand is the scent of getting un-ready at the end of the night. Think applying your luxe skincare and slipping into expensive silk sheets. It has the delicate classic beauty of Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn, but the modernity of a pastel-coloured Sophia Coppola film. Softly sweet, refined and classic without feeling dated, it has an inescapable sense of romance about it that while subtle, still draws you in.
NOTES
Mandarin, Pink Pepper, Liquorice, Wisteria, Lilac, Musk
